The metamorphosis of "Metamorphoses"

I watched at the sidelines, beside the designer, as the fellas negotiated an 800 pound piece of plexiglass into its fabricated steel tube frame, and then slid the whole thing into its slot, to complete the tank for our upcoming stage productions of "Metamorphoses". It was like an interpretive ballet in action. The combined experience of the technical directors and the workshop carpenters created a resolution to the event. The combined weight of the steel and plexi was a thousand pounds. So the whole thing was no mean feat. There was no room for error, the show goes on stage on Monday, no time to reorder or rebuild…the show must go on. 

A combined sigh of relief came over us all as the 7'x6' piece slid into place. 

The set has been technically tremendously difficult. Our designer has presented us with quite the challenge. Her dream is taking shape. The show opens Feb 1.
