Sunday Walls

Sunday Walls is the title of my latest exhibition a the Bermuda Society of the Arts gallery in Hamilton Bermuda. The gallery is situated in City Hall. Friday night saw a great crowd of people viewing all the splendid artworks n display that night including mine in gallery B.
It was great to touch base with old friends and meet admirers of my work.
Several of my favourite pieces from the show were sold allowing a happy sigh of relief, as opening night has a certain exhilarated tension associated with it.
The piece pictured here, is sold, titled Sky & Orange.

Bermuda Bound

"Sunday Walls"
is a collection of small works telling the story of texture and light in Bermuda.

This year I am returning to the island with a body of mixed media work on canvas called “Sunday Walls”. Sunday Walls speaks of texture, of light, of age of transformation and the diligence required to create the structures of Bermuda.

There are doors and windows and walls that I return to each time I visit. They are benchmarks of time, and have over the years created a continum in my work,  an investigation of light texture and love.

Sunday Walls will be at the Bermuda Society of the Arts gallery in City Hall Hamilton Bermuda from February 25th to March 15th.

Saint Carmen of the Main

The front and the reverse of Saint Carmen of the Main, designed by the wonderful EO Sharp and now showing in Toronto at Canadian Stage, this production finds its way to the NAC stage in March. The pic does now show just how GOLD the set is!

a new sign

I spent most of the summer creating and then they installed the brand new Blackbird Cafe sign in Burnstown....the best eats around!

Agokwe

Then Agokwe came my way.
Agokwe is a marvellous play about being double spirited. A First Nations play about life and love.
I got to paint the set. Here's a bit of the floor, in progress....

Naivity...compells Nativity

It took courage, all I had to attack a 60 foot double side (translucent) drop for the  set of Nativity. I worked wonderfully....

This is what it looked like on the floor kiddie corner in the shop to accommodate the size. I had one day to paint the from another to do the back, a week all told to stretch, starch, and finish.
I love theatre.
Judith Bowden was the designer, thanks Judith!
